Southwest Guilford 5, Cornerstone Charter 4

Southwest Guilford opened the 2026 season with a 5-4 win over Cornerstone Charter at home on Wednesday night. It was a tight, low-scoring game from start to finish.

The Cowboys held on for the one-goal victory to move to 1-0 on the year. Cornerstone drops to 0-1.

A 5-4 game in Week 1 says both defenses came to play. Southwest showed it can grind out a close one. Cornerstone went on the road and nearly stole it—nothing to hang their heads about.

Up next Cornerstone Charter heads to Mount Tabor on Friday at 6 p.m. The rematch is set for April 24 at Cornerstone.
