No. 9 Ohio State Steamrolls High Point 13-5

High Point University Men's Lacrosse | Game RecapFebruary 21, 2026 — Columbus, Ohio

High Point walked into Ohio State Lacrosse Stadium on Saturday and immediately found out what a 5-0 team looks like when it's feeling itself. The No. 9 Buckeyes buried the Panthers in a 7-0 hole before High Point even remembered they were allowed to score, cruising to a 13-5 victory that was never remotely in doubt.

Ohio State improves to a sparkling 5-0. High Point drops to 1-2, and honestly, the film session on this one is going to be a rough Monday.

First Half: Ohio State Came Out Violent

Not physically violent — lacrosse violent. The "we're scoring at will and you can't do anything about it" kind of violent.

The Buckeyes jumped out 4-0 in the first quarter and kept their foot on the gas, rattling off seven unanswered goals before High Point's Matt Lutzel finally cracked the seal with 8:35 left in the second quarter. That was the only Panther goal of the entire first half. Ohio State took a 9-1 lead into the locker room, and the only suspense left was whether High Point could make the final score look respectable.

Second Half: Panthers Show Some Fight, But It's Too Late

High Point's Ian Cann scored within the first minute of the third quarter, which — good for him — but Ohio State immediately responded with a 3-0 run to push it to 12-2 by the end of the period. At that point, this game was furniture shopping.

The Panthers did salvage some pride in the fourth quarter, outscoring Ohio State 3-1 behind goals from Ryan Hynes, Nicholas Steele, and Luke Fenderson, who potted the first goal of his college career. Good moment for the kid. But Jack Bichelmeyer tacked one on for the Buckeyes because Ohio State wasn't about to let anyone feel too good about a garbage-time rally, and that was that. 13-5 final.

The Stat Sheet Heroes

Garrett Haas — 5 goals, 1 assist for a career-high 6 points. Haas was absolutely unconscious. When a guy puts up a career day and it doesn't even feel like the defense did anything wrong, that's just a dude on a different level.

Liam White — 4 goals, also a career high. When your second-leading scorer is also having the best game of his life, you're in for a long afternoon if you're on the other sideline.

Khalif Hocker — 2 goals. Quiet, efficient, and exactly the kind of depth scoring that makes Ohio State dangerous.

Caleb Fyock — 9 saves in the cage for his fifth win in as many starts. The man hasn't lost yet this season, and he wasn't about to start against a High Point team that managed just 25 shots.

Dominic Shaw — Career-high 4 caused turnovers on defense. Shaw was a menace in the passing lanes and a big reason High Point coughed it up 22 times.

The High Point Side

It wasn't all bad for the Panthers. Five different players found the back of the net, and goalie Zack Overend made 11 saves — which, given the barrage he faced, was a gutsy performance. The real bright spot was faceoff man Luca Accardo, who won 9 draws and actually helped High Point edge Ohio State 11-10 in total faceoff wins. Winning the faceoff battle against a top-10 team is no joke. The problem is everything that happened after the faceoffs.

By the Numbers

The turnovers tell the story. High Point gave it away 22 times to Ohio State's 16, and when you're turning it over that much against a team this talented, you're going to get buried. The Buckeyes outshot the Panthers 32-25 and won the ground ball battle 31-25, controlling possession when it mattered most.

The Milestone

This was career win No. 150 for Ohio State head coach Nick Myers, now in his 18th season running the program. The man's been doing this for nearly two decades and his team is rolling. Tip of the cap.

The Bottom Line

Ohio State is legit. Five-and-oh, top-10, and putting up crooked numbers against everyone they play. Haas and White going off for career days simultaneously is the kind of offensive explosion that should terrify the rest of the Big Ten. The defense is forcing turnovers at will, Fyock hasn't lost, and this team looks like it's just getting started.

High Point's got some pieces — Accardo at the X is the real deal — but the Panthers need to clean up the turnovers in a hurry or it's going to be a long season.
